Vegan cocking. How do you make a sheppards pie vegan? Even with beef its
not sheppards pie anymore.

I love being vegan!!! REMEMBER: it takes nothing to join the crowd, but it
takes everything to stand alone. & as vegans, we have decided to eat
healthier, love our animals and planet – but most importantly ourselves.

I like preparing what I consider basic peasant foods. Or, as I like to
say, plant based foods w/ SASS~ Super Affordable, Simple, & Satisfying. I
teach on our Plant Based Solution YT channel, and on my blog how to prepare
simple, healthy, produce-rich plant-based fare. I think the less
complicated, the more likely people will stick to it. It is easy enough to
create plant based meals that are familiar, and equally, if not a lot more
satisfying. ~Tracy

You know what would really kick all these recipes up a few notches? Some
meat. Seriously, try it. You know what’s better than vegan burger patties?
Real burger. You know what’s better than soy or almond milk? Real milk.

Vegans don’t eat pizza or chicken. There’s something wrong with them.

I love how when they mention something unhealthy (alcohol) the audience
goes wild, hahaha.. It’s like they are saying: ‘Give me some toxic shit,
enough with the healthy! ‘
After going vegan I completely lost attraction to alcohol, if I take a sip
of it and I KNOW it’s poison, like my body can tell now.
Ellen, don’t be weak and don’t ride on the desire of people to get toxic
stuff into them, like being a fat toxic dump is the sexy thing to do..
Health and vitality is sexy!

Some of us go through stages and ‘transitions’ with regards to diet. Most
of us start off on a ‘regular’ meat based diet, then you cut out this, cut
out that, to eventually you become vegan. ‘Faux’ meat dishes are Ok in the
transitional stages, but I personally believe the goal is to be 100% fresh
plant based. To keep having vegan meals that resemble meat meals is
keeping you in a mindset of the past, when it is about moving forward to
embracing completely animal free and animal free ‘looking’ meals. IMHO. If
we are truly against animal cruelty than to keep eating meals that resemble
dead animal meals is illogical But to see a vegan chef on a mainstream TV
show is amazing..great steps, thanks to Ellen for having this guy on her
show, first time I have seen this.

It would be very interesting to know how many people were Vegans at the
time they went to jail.
How many people were Vegans when they lost their children to social
services?
How many people were Vegans at the time that a serious life crisis befell
them?
How many alcoholics are Vegans?
How many Vegans take recreational drugs? Which drugs?
How many Vegans have undergone extreme body modifications?
How many Vegans are in psychiatric wards?
My guess is that Vegans are going to be conspicuously underrepresented
among those populations.
How many Vegans have had abortions?
My guess is that Vegans just don’t manifest much on the level where those
things happen.

There’s so many options for vegans! Not all are healthy, but its easy to be
vegan as long as you plan ahead. Being able to cook basic things like
noodles, grains, potatoes and veggies is helpful + fruit smoothies are
easy!

As a vegan for 20 years (I am 37) I would advise all heavy meat eaters NOT
to jump straight from meat eating to being a vegan, you will never make it,
you will relapse within weeks, what you should do is be a vegetarian first,
that means no meat no fish, but dairy is allowed, and when you feel the
benefits from that after about 3-6 months you WILL eventually want to be a
vegan, but it’s too hard for meat eaters to go from meat and fish straight
to vegan, lets be honest – they will fail, the choices and creativity
within vegan cookery are still too narrow right now, but not so with
vegetarian, vegetarian food has improved massively in recent years, but
sadly veganism is still needing an injection of creativity to satisfy those
who seek to convert.

The funny thing about vegans is that they want meat so much that they have
to eat fake meat. What is the point to go vegan, if you will still crave
something that looks and tastes like meat? It isn’t the best way to show
carnivores that “you can give up meat”. It also shows that most humans need
meat to survive, because we love the taste and if we can’t have it we go
for something that looks, tastes and feels like meat.
I’ve wanted to go vegan for a very long time, but I decided to just eat as
little meat and animal products as possible because I won’t stop giving my
body what it needs and wants. It’s even better if you can get meat from
farmers who treat their animals right, and if it’s not too hard to find,
buy locally produced meat.

I have that book! It is great, very inspiring and mouth-watering. It even
contains suggested soundtracks for all the dishes! 🙂
I am also a vegan chef, and I can really recommend Bryant Terry’s book,
regardless if you are vegan or not. It is clear and concise and you won’t
have any trouble cooking the dishes – this is REAL food; doable, edible,
enjoyable!
