I started getting healthy at 13, so I can help. Since your young, you just have to make a few changes to being healthier. Here are some suggestions:
– drink 6+ glasses of water a day
– stop drinking pop and energy drinks or limit them to special occations if you can’t completely give them up.
– switch to whole grain bread, pasta, and brown rice
– switch to natural peanut butter
– drink 1% or skim milk instead of 2% or whole
– eat 4-6 meals a day instead of 3 larger ones. It keeps your metabolism fast and energy levels high.
– eat at least 2 hours before you go to bed, it gives the food time to digest.
– eat junk food and desserts in moderation, you don’t have to give them up
– eat a lot of fiber rich food, aim for 25-30 grams a day
– limit lots of sugary and salty foods, don’t use artificial sweetners though
– always eat breakfast, if you skip it slows down your metabolism
– try and exercise 4-6 times a week, but take at least 1 day off so your muscles can repair themselves.
– both cardio and a little strength training are important
– don’t count calories (bad self experience, it becomes very obsessive)
– make sure your eating a lot of healthy food, teenagers need a lot of calories since they’re growing.

Good luck! 🙂
