Yea, you stop eating meat, but there are people who stay off any food product that contains meat/animal products. That’s not that always easy to do. Taking meat out of diet is easier than you think. Think pasta, bread, salad, fruits, cheese, pizza…etc.

But if you have access to doctor or dietician ask about vitamins or other supplements since you’ll be cutting out proteins and some nutrients you used to get from meat.

its real easy. take all the chicken, fish and real meat from your fridge and give it to your friends. then go to the store and get nuts, veggies and fruits. tofu’s cool, but its not easy to cook with right off the bat.

Have meatless spaghetti, meatless pizza, veggie sandwiches (avocado slices, lettuce, tomatoes, maybe raw onions, slice of lowfat or fat free cheese). It’s easier to be lacto-ovo than a vegan vegetarian. Even ppl from India who are vegetarians often eat cheese and drink milk. But if you really want to go vegan, it’s a personal choice. Peanut butter is also a vegetarian food. So is a bean burrito. I am not a vegetarian, though I do try to have some vegetarian meals and I try to avoid beef and pork (because of the fat content). You can also buy canned meatless “hot dogs” made from soy flour in some health food stores (and some supermarkets that have a health food section) and frozen soy patties that resemble hamburgers, but are meatless.

Slowly wean yourself of of meats, fish, and all food that comes out of animals/are animal. Some veg-heads cheat a little and eat/drink milk prodcts and eat eggs. Also get informed on how to fafill your diet with the nutrients you wont be getting.

First, Do a little research on vegetarian diets. You just don’t want to jump into being a vegetarian. First you want to know suitable substitutes for meats, because you will no longer be getting nutrients from meat, and you want to make sure you are getting all the things you need from a vegetarian diet.
Things like protien and iron, you won’t have to worry about, you can get those things from a vegetarian diet, and you will have less of the unwanted things like saturated fat, and cholesterol. But you will have to take vitamin B12 supplements, since it is really only found in meat.
You may want to ease into a vegetarian diet… but I jumped right in and it worked for me. So you will have to do whatever works for you.
    Good Luck.

This is what I did when I became a vegetarian:

    1. Go through your fridge and cupboard and have a look at the ingredients on all the packaging. Whatever you decide to keep depends on how strict you’re going to be with the diet – I don’t eat any gelatine, cochineal (additive 120), or disodium inosinate (additive 631). Here is a list of non-vegan and non-vegetarian food additives if you’re interested http://www.veggieglobal.com/nutrition/non-vegetarian-food-additives.htm Also, cheese is not vegetarian if it contains animal rennet, which is taken from the stomach of calves.

    2. Check out your local supermarket for substitutes (larger supermarkets usually have more of a variety). For instance, TVP (textured vegetable protein) can be used instead of mince in lasagna. You’ll be able to find soy sausages, hot dogs, chicken, bacon, etc. This makes meals far easier since you’ll still be able to have “meat” and 3 veg.

    3. Make a list of all the meals you can prepare. Here are some that we eat at home:
    – lasagna & pasta (just use jar sauce)
    – tacos using re-fried beans instead of meat
    – soup – very easy!
    – quiche
    – curry – you can find lots of ready-made vegetarian packet curries at supermarkets

That’s all I can think of for the moment. Kudos for making such a wise decision. It may seem difficult at first, but being vegetarian just becomes a routine.
