    Hi,

I eat this way every day. Well, I’m diabetic, but I also have lost about 40lbs just by changing the way I eat. Simple rule:
Don’t eat anything white, white flour or white sugar. Only eat whole grains. Don’t be fooled by “enriched flour” that’s just white flour. I try not to eat over 45 grams of food on the low range of the GI in a meal. Just read labels, that’s the best way. My best friend a recently diagnosed Diabetic has lost 60lbs just by changing the way she eats. It really works, and I don’t feel like I’m on a diet. Good luck! Stick with it.

high glycemic foods are those which have quickly absorbed energy. when foods are refined, they become very easily digested and absorbed as sugar into the bloodstream. very simply put, avoid refined foods such as flours and sugars… read the ingredients before you buy something. if it has enriched flour, sugar, or corn syrup, avoid it!
As a general diet, stick with whole grain foods, lean meats, lean dairy, vegetables, and fruit. Avoid food that comes packaged in a box; while quick and easy, they are often of poor quality nutritionally speaking. Many fruits have a high glycemic index, but have a ton of benefits that you should not avoid. The trick with eating fruit is to eat them immediately after or together with something else that will slow their absorption.

Whole grain foods: oatmeal (not the pre-packaged kind, but oats with boiling water, some fruit, and sugar substitute if needed), whole grain bread (check ingredients and avoid enriched flour), brown rice, whole grain pasta

Lean meats: any meat without a lot of fat! canned light tuna, skinless chicken breast, ground lean turkey (93% or higher fat free), any fish, good quality deli-sliced turkey, steak with fat trimmed off

Lean dairy: egg whites, skim milk, low fat cheeses

    Fruits and veggies: self-explanatory

    Good luck to you!
