Does a multivitamin have the same benefits as a super healthy diet?

Question by lemon head: Does a multivitamin have the same benefits as a super healthy diet?
Just curious. Who’s better off? The people who follow rigid super healthy diets with 100 servings of fruits and veggies and this and that every day with no multivitamin? Or the average joe who eats decent meals (fast food sometimes) and takes a multivitamin?

Does the multivitamin provide the same benefits as healthy food?

well yes and no….. Food is easier assimulated by the body to absorb nutrients because it is natural.. but, in order to get most of what we need from food, it should be more organic, not over cooked… and these days relying just on food is not very realistic…

vitamins are benefical because they are easy and conveinant.. but them too, they cannot have too many fillers and binders in them.. otherwise we cannot absorb them fully.. they too have to be put together right..

A healthy diet is going to be better cause its natural!!

But if you’re an average joe, you’d be better off with the vitamins, if you aren’t getting a nutritious diet.

Multivitamins should only be used by people that aren’t getting enough vitamins and minerals from their diet. Getting nutrients from your diet is always better than a multivitamin, as they are better absorbed and are natural. Not to mention with healthy foods you get antioxidants, flavonoids, phytonutrients, and other things along with them.

This might sway you towards obtaining nutrients from food rather than multivitamins:

Depends on a lot of things, but as a whole the person who eats right should be better off … it stands to reason that a person that eats healthy will be better off than a person that eats junk food and a vitamin. However, there will always be some few stray vitamins or minerals that the person might be deficient because they are lacking from the diet.

Take the best approach and do both, get a good quality multivitamin (there are a lot of major brands reviewed over at http://www.nutritionaltree.com) and eat right.
