I prefer nuts and seeds for healthy fats and omegas. Avocados just seem to
slow me down I think too much fat maybe

I like avocados but I never seem to know when they are ripe. When I think
they do I end up composting them because they are rotten inside. Maybe it’s
because I live in Michigan and they are crap.So I really don’t buy them lol

we have top notch avos year round here in california, so we’re into them.
that said, we don’t go nuts and never try to get full from just them.
rather, they are best when mindfully added to other foods like a salad. i
don’t feel them negatively effecting my training, but then again i’m not
world class by any stretch.

i live in adelaide and my avocados don’t taste like soap, obviously if you
eat a lot of one food it won’t taste that good thats why its awesome a few
slices on toast with lemon and pepper. so delicious

my mom is drinking flaxseed oil for essential fatty acids, but i want to
recommend her something better. she says that nuts/seeds are hard to digest
for her. but does it make a difference in digestion if you eat whole
nuts/seeds as oppose to crushed?
and where i live, there aren´t really quality avocados, so what then is a
good source for essential fatty acids?

Do you guys realize how badly China treats their animals? You know
Australia is selling off its assets to the Chinese. This means China is
slowly taking over ownership of Australia. The vegan community should be
livid about this. If you want to know exactly how this works then watch
“Easy Economics” by Brian Nelmes. That video blew my mind, I honestly
thought we were benefiting from importing cheap goods from China. It’s sad
Australians don’t understand what is actually happening.

I agree with harley – I think they taste good when you can get really good
ones but I treat them like butter – IE spread it on bread/toast. If I eat a
whole one, or multiple avocados I will feel sick and fatted out and the
next day my forehead is greasy (actually!).
Obviously they are waaaaaaaaay healthier than butter, but you get my point.
Don’t treat them like bananas, treat them like butter.

Raw Food Diet Tips: Avocados Healthy?

I’m a big avacado fan. I love them on sandwhiches, plain sliced and dipped
in ranch dressing and whole made guacamole. I agree with you that a person
needs to experiement and live the diet that makes you feel the most
energized.
2 questions: Why, when everything I’ve read to the contrary, do you support
a large intake of pasta for a healthy diet?? What other foods can I get
carbohydrates??

Hi healthy people. I’m a newbie and am having trouble signing up to “30
bananas a day” The sight asks the question: What’s the most commonly asked
question to vegans. Where do you get your (blank) from. I type in protein
in the blank spot and the sight sez I’m incorrect every time. I mean, am I
wrong? Can anybody help me out here. Am keen to be a member and learn more
about this lifestyle. Thanks :)

I don’t really understand people who are promoting avocados as backup plan
to be 100% raw. What’s the backup plan when you can’t find ripe avocados?
Ripe avocados are hard to find in certain places in the world.

HELP PLEASE:
Hi Durianrider! (Before I ask I wanna clear some stuff up that might affect
your answer) I’m a 17 year old female, 5’9 and have been on the raw till 4
diet for about 3 months, not because I want to lose weight, (medically I’m
classified with an ideal BMI) but because thanks to you and Freelee I
decided this was the healthiest possible diet and I want to fuel my body on
what it will thrive off, and I think the younger you start this lifestyle
the better. I’m feeling great, following the diet exactly how you suggest,
exercising etc. and am having no issues adjusting to the lifestyle (except
an increase in financial demands!) I’ve never starved myself or been on any
sort of diet in my life, I’ve just eaten when I’m hungry (always had a big
appetite!) so I don’t have any metabolic damage (I’ve always had a fast
metabolism)- any damage to my metabolism must be due to a meat and dairy
diet- and although I had been a meat and dairy eater, from an omnivorous
perspective my diet was always very healthy, and I’ve always done regular
physical activity.
Okay so:
My appetite has increased in the past 2 weeks, I now require about 3,500 to
sometimes even 4,000 calories to feel satiated. Is that okay? Do I need to
cut down, or is my body just telling me how much it needs to run off? Any
vegan responses are welcome if you’re willing to help me out!

I feel like you make people fear avocado/fats a bit, although not sure if
that is your intention. Freelee says to the idea of eating avocado +
zucchini pasta “where are the carbs” – the answer is they are already in my
belly from earlier in the day. If I eat 35 bananas (or pick your fruit
equivalent) I can eat an avocado at night with 2 heads of lettuce and I
feel great. Harley, you say cooked carbs help you say 90/5/5 and then ask
freelee if she is 80/1010 or 90/5/5.. they are the same thing. 10% or LESS
= 5 lol. I say eating a few avocados each week is nice and makes it easier
to eat greens because sometimes they are a little bitter or maybe lower
quality etc. Sometimes lettuce or celery is great plain..but sometimes the
quality is just not there – like you said for fruit. You say you like to
eat a lot but I dont see you eating greens that often! It just doesnt seem
like you are getting that many minerals, where are the greens? fruit is
good but eat some celery:)

I GREW UP IN CALIF, WHERE THEY GROW AVOCADOS AND I LEFT SEVERAL YEARS AGO.
I’M NOT EVEN FOOD CENTRIC SO I DON’T PAY MUCH ATTENTION TO THESE THINGS BUT
NOW THAT YOU MENTION IT, YEA THE AVOCADO QUALITY DEAL IS AN ISSUE OUTSIDE
OF PLACES LIKE CALIF.
I TYPICALLY BUY 3 OR 4 ONCE EVERY OTHER WEEK AND NO MORE THAN THAT, SO
PROBABLY AN AVERAGE OF 1 TO 2 PER WEEK AND I NEVER EVEN THOUGHT ABOUT IT. I
DO REMEMBER WHEN AVOCADO DAVE WAS SAYING THAT IT WAS A MIRACLE FRUIT AND
THINKING NO IT’S JUST AN AVOCADO…
I WOULD RECOMMEND TO THESE VEGAN AIRHEADS THAT THEY TRY TO CONSUME LOTS OF
BEANS, NUTS, SEEDS AND AVOCADOS ALONG WITH FRUITS, VEGETABLES, ROOTS, ETC.
AND THEN TRY TO STUDY THINGS THAT ARE LARGE SCALE LIKE PHYSICS, ECOLOGY,
ECONOMICS AND LIBERTARIAN PHILOSOPHY. THEY WILL FIND THAT IT TAKES SOME
BRAIN POWER, WHICH REQUIRES DIETARY VARIETY WHICH IS MERELY ONE PART OF A
HEALTHY LIFESTYLE.

Gosh avocados look so much like eggs. At least avocados are better for you
than eggs though I bet they have more fat than eggs. They are pretty fatty.
I suppose some people’s fat metabolism is a lot better than other people’s,
this explains why some people love and seem to thrive on avocados. However
even if you’re a new comer to the raw vegan diet, straight from a
omnivorous cooked diet, cutting out fats, nuts, seeds, oils and avocados
may just help you feel a whole lot better a whole lot quicker.
Also I can not get on with blended sauces and feel it tastes much better if
you just chop stuff up and maybe let it marinate for half an hour, I prefer
that to making blended sauces. So if I do have an avocado, I prefer to have
big chunks of it instead if blending it.
I think Freelee and Harley should do an avocado face mask video and share
the avocado face moisturising results with us 🙂 Also a banana moose face
mask.
