5K PARK Fest to Raise Funds for 150+ South Florida Nonprofits & Schools

5K PARK Fest to Raise Funds for 150+ South Florida Nonprofits & Schools

Miami, Florida (PRWEB) October 16, 2014

The inaugural 5K PARK Fest, coming to Miami Beach on November 2, is lending a helping hand to some of South Florida’s worthiest causes, providing a platform for philanthropic groups to raise much needed funds and awareness.

What makes the 5K PARK Fest revolutionary is this: organizations can register for free as a benefitting cause, and each 5K participant gets to pick one cause to receive half their $ 40 registration fee. At $ 20 per person, the more people per team, the more funds raised!

With 50 charitable organizations already signed up and over two dozen teams started, the 5K PARK Fest hopes to inspire over 5,000 people to walk, run or cheer for their favorite charities. This includes causes as diverse as education, foster children, cancer research, autism awareness, animal advocacy, environmental efforts, civic leadership and many others.

Benefitting organizations so far include City Year Miami, Irie Foundation, the Humane Society of Broward County, the FIU Alumni Association and Center for Leadership and Service, Florida State University’s Young Parents Project, TECHO, Tuberous Sclerosis Alliance, S.T.A.R.S. Autism School, Miami Beach Adult & Community Education and dozens of others. It’s free for organizations to register, and all are encouraged to participate. That includes nonprofits and schools, civic and/or faith based groups.

The event aims to raise over $ 200,000 for philanthropic groups across the region. Benefitting organizations, teams and individual PARKticipants are urged to register as soon as possible at 5KPARKFest.org to maximize fundraising efforts!

Presented by Terra Group, the 5K PARK Fest is the brainchild of PARK Project, a volunteer-driven movement spreading the message Perform Acts of Random Kindness (PARK).

“A small group of committed citizens started this event out of a desire to PARK for our servicemen & women,” says co-founder Marly Quincoces, known affectionately as MarlyQ.

“That single act of kindness resulted in a powerful ripple effect that allowed us to grow and create an even greater positive impact in our community. Instead of telling people what cause to PARK for … we are now challenging people to PARK for whatever cause moves them!”

In addition to fundraising and five kilometers of fun running or walking, the free PARK Fest will feature music, a kid’s mini run, activities, top awards presentation, chance drawings, beach volleyball, an art exhibit and tons of other activities for all ages!

Top sponsors include Coca-Cola Refreshments, KIND Healthy Snacks and The City of Miami Beach. South Floridians are encouraged to “Leave their mark … PARK!” for this one-of-a-kind event!

The 5K PARK Fest takes place on November 2 from 6 a.m. to 3:05 p.m. at the North Shore Bandshell, Collins Ave & 73rd. Visit 5KPARKFest.org to register as a benefitting cause and START/JOIN a team.
