South Beach Seafood Festival Announces Restaurant Lineup, Fights Childhood Hunger

A lineup of premier local eateries and the return of a popular pop-up restaurant has been announced for the Hess Select South Beach Seafood Festival, a celebration of South Florida’s best seafood and entertainment, Saturday, Oct. 25, from 1-9 p.m. at Lummus Park. For the first time, the festival will supporting a new program launched by The Community Initiatives Foundation to battle childhood hunger and childhood obesity in disadvantaged youth throughout South Florida called EAT SMART. In 2013, over 6,500 seafood-lovers supported the event. New satellite events for 2014 include a VIP Kickoff Dinner at Joe’s Stone Crabs Oct. 22, a Seafood Shuffle down Ocean Drive Oct. 23, and the “Chef Showdown” at the Seafood & Sneakers Ball hosted in the Goya Culinary Pavilion Oct. 24.

The 2014 festival will benefit Community Initiatives Foundation, a 501c3 nonprofit organization, with a mission to spread the word on philanthropy, as well as support programs, community initiatives and individuals in need. The Community Initiatives Foundation is utilizing the Hess Select South Beach Seafood Festival as a platform to launch their new program, EAT SMART. The mission of EAT SMART is battle both childhood hunger and childhood obesity in disadvantaged youth throughout South Florida. Wednesday, October 22: Kickoff Dinner at Joe’s Stone Crab

The Kickoff Dinner at Joe’s Stone Crab will be limited to 50 guests and exclusively hosted for the weekend major sponsors as well as the most VIP seafoodies out there as this event will kick off the weekend with a 4-course meal filled with pounds of Fresh Joe’s Stone Crabs with the season just beginning the week before. Each course will be enhanced by a Master Sommelier experience featuring wines from the Hess Collection and delicious beers from Tenth & Blake Brewery along with a special educational experience from the Joe’s Team. There are only 1 or 2 seats left for this exclusive dinner in Jesse’s Private Room. Tickets are $ 500 pp.

Thursday, October 23: Seafood Shuffle

The Seafood Shuffle event will host approx. 150-200 guests as they kick off Thursday Night at Equinox on 5th and Collins Ave, receive samples and enjoy chef demos from City Hall the Restaurants, before they pick up their tickets and make their way leisurely to different restaurants participating in the Shuffle down Ocean Drive, Collins Ave, and Washington Ave. Each restaurant will provide each guest with a complimentary glass of Hess Select wine or cocktail, sponsored by Bacardi, Stoli, and Herradura and $ 5 bite menus are available for purchase for your enjoyment. Hop on a freebee or walk around and make your way to visit over 10 restaurants around South Beach. Participating restaurants include Siena Tavern, Red the Steakhouse, CJs, Park Central Café, A Fish Called Avalon, Clevelander, Pepe Nero, Poseidon, and Naked Taco. Friday, October 24: Chef Showdown @ Seafood & Sneakers Ball

While the main Saturday Festival is the talk of the town, the Chef Showdown at the Seafood & Sneakers Ball will offer the most exclusive ticket in town, Friday, October 24, 2014. This event will serve as the sizzling appetizer before the main festival and feature Miami’s finest culinary master chefs showcasing amazing seafood dishes along with some fun and fashion as we create a complete “Made in Miami” experience! Get your stomach’s ready and your best kicks (sneakers) on and join in for the “gala” evening of fun.

Miami is all about style and the Seafood & Sneakers Ball, sponsored by Range Rover and Bacardi, is here to show how Miamians do things just a little bit differently. Taking place at 9th & Ocean Drive in the GOYA Culinary Pavilion at the event site, Chef Showdown @ the Seafood & Sneakers Ball will feature Miami’s finest, participating in cook-offs on the 305-KITCHEN.com demo stages throughout the venue, hosted by Celebrity Chef Ralph Pagano. Attendees will participate in the public vote by visiting the Chef’s restaurant tasting stations around the event space, sample their signature dishes showcased on the demo stages, and vote on who is the best in each showdown category. The “Cutting Board” experts will lend their expertise to assist in choosing the final winners at the end of the evening.
