Recipes and meal plans for an on-the-go family?

Question by Snely3: Recipes and meal plans for an on-the-go family?
I need simple, quick (very quick) meal plans that are also healthy for a family of 3. If anyone could help out with a website with this that would be great! Otherwise any other suggestions are appreciated.

I think the fastest thing is to make chicken on sunday night…and then use it for different meals all week long. like chicken on bake potatoes and broccli, add bbq and a veggie..u get the idea..that’s what i do. it’s fast and I can have chicken all week but a different flavor every night

I usually cook either STIR FRY meals or quick stews.

Try to keep your kitchen stocked with *standard staples* that are common in quick-meals.
Quick PASTAS are a standard in my home as is RICE.

*REUSE many overlooked starches: Dried bread crumbs are crucial in meat loaves.

    Chicken and dumplings (super fast)

canned cream of chicken soup (prepare as directed)
add frozen mixed veggies and canned chicken (optional)
    bisquick dumplings (prepared as directed)

    Quick Jambalaya

2pkgs hillshire farms beef smoked sausage (sliced about 1/4 inch thick)
    1 onion
    1 bell pepper
    1 can stewed tomatoes
1 can chicken broth (NOT condensed)
    2 cups minute rice
3/4 lbs precooked frozen shrimp without tails
    1/4 each, chilipowder, thyme, cayenne

brown the sausage in a large skillet (i actually like it kinda blackened), drain. add everything else and simmer until veggies are tender.

    stroganoff

    1-2lbs hamburger
    1 onion
    1 bell pepper
    mushrooms
    cream of mushroom soup (condensed)
    dill
    sour cream
    egg noodles (cooked)

brown the hamburger, drain. add the veggies and dill and simmer just a little… fill the pot with mushroom soup (do not add water)… simmer until veggies are done, stirring periodically… add a few dollops of sour cream and mix well, serve over hot noodles

I am a family of 3 and know exactly what you mean!

I bought a crock pot (slow cooker) a couple of months ago, and couldn’t live without it anymore.

I make mainly stews in mine or soup. IF I have a bit of time, I prepare it in the evening (only takes me 15-20 min)
otherwise during day/ early mornings whenever my son is playing on his own for a short while.

Put it all in the pot and turn it on to be ready at diner/supper time, you don’t have to look at it anymore until your ready to eat!

    what an invention!
