Q&A: How can I eat healthy at a party when the menu is this……?

Question by Genevieve: How can I eat healthy at a party when the menu is this……?
I’m a freshman in High School and I’m part of my school’s choir. We just had our first concert and we are celebrating with a party during class on Friday. This is what the menu looks like:
-Soda
-Chips
-Sotch-a-roos
-Chcolate Chip Cookies
-Brownies
-Puppy Chow
-M&Ms

I am very picky about eating healthy. I absoluty LOVE everything that is going to be there and I have to try hard to resist it. I already was sucessful today by resisiting doughnuts……uhh so hard! Any tips on trying to stay away from that food? Or should I just give in on a little treat?
Thanks for the help so far, but I don’t think this will work. It’s during SCHOOL. I can’t eat a ton before hand because I’m in school. And I don’t really feel confortable bringing my own food.

Ohh another thing I forgot to add to the menu: Cupcakes!

take your own food. a treat every now and then is fine as long as you don’t overdo it.

Before you go to the party eat your healthy meal. However, there will be someone who will want you to eat so eat a little bit explaining that you ate before coming to the party.

OR you could eat at the party & then exercise so the calories don’t attach themselves

Eat a ton beforehand, or bring along some healthy snacks. Maybe some fresh fruit, or celery/carrot sticks. Something easy to handle, but that you won’t mind eating all of.

They’ll probably let you have some water instead of soda, so just bring your favorite healthy snacks and munch away. If you feel uncomfortable about bringing fruit etc., try taking something a bit bizarre, like fruit leather, or dried apricot chips or something that people won’t have tried before. Then, being healthy will be a novelty!

Don’t let food spoil your night!!

You could eat something healthy before you go, something filling.

Eat a healthy little snack before going to the party, or a healthy meal if you’re that desperate. When you’re at the party, bring a water bottle or drink water while you’re there to curb your cravings. So when someone asks you why you aren’t eating anything, you can explain that you ate before, or you can honestly tell them you aren’t big on all the junk food stuff.
But you know…indulging in a little “unhealthy” food every once in a while will not send your body into a spiraling system of unhealthiness, and it doesn’t kill you. It’s actually good to allow your body to have a little craving so it doesn’t feel as if you’re depriving yourself of anything. I learned that from a personal trainer.
Just make sure you don’t pig out on all that stuff, and set a goal for yourself to eat totally healthy for the next three days or so.

Good luck, and have fun at that party! 🙂
