“John from http://www.growingyourgreens.com/ answers a subscribers
questions:
.1 What leafy salad green can be grown indoors and provide enough for a
salad on a daily basis.
2. Is there anything else that should be considered when growing a kitchen
garden indoors?
After watching this episode, you will get the answers to the above two
questions, and you know the best greens to grow indoors and will be
empowered to grow an indoor garden so you can eat fresh salad greens
throughout the winter or any time of year.”

Suggest sprouts or microgreens to this guy. They grow rapidly and sprouts
don’t even need light. Not to mention they are very nutrient dense.
Broccoli sprouts are supposed to be 50x more nutritious than the broccoli
floret itself.

When they ship produce, they make us run hard. Would haul from California
back to Michigan in 3 days (solo driver, teams could do in 2). They put a
temperature recording device mixed in with the freight. Never sat on the
truck more then 4 days

There are other choices which are food cooperatives where food trucks come
right to your town. I am a coordinator with UNFI/Alberts delivered to our
door with a group of people ordering to meat our minimums. There is Azure
Standard and there is Bountiful Baskets which comes every other week and
this is fresh produce and vegetables which are so fresh it is
unbelievable. I live in South Dakota so I understand.

Eliot Coleman requires a bucket of money to follow his ideas. Try Nikki
Jabbour Year Round Vegg. Gardenand Kaleb Warnok for more DIY ideas at
reasonable cost. And BTW, the tote bins work great for growing…use a
tote within a tote and punch some holes inside for drainage. Great advice
on the sunflowers.

Wow! Mike’s setup looks really good actually! Salad greens a a good start,
in fact, any START is a good start!! 😉 I like Chard, does take long to
start, but it’s a very hardy green.

I guess I should mention…the diet I follow is more “Primal” or weekday
vegans as my husband says, lol. No grains, dairy, or egg at all for me due
to allergies it’s all plant and animals that I eat…and I was diagnosed
with MS 10 years ago.

Some good questions from that viewer. I’d been growing alfalfa sprouts and
a flower-pot of chard (any color of chard). I am going to try making
something like your viewer made so that I can try growing other things that
need longer-daylight than my Pacific Northwest gives me.

out but still have enough pressure to flow the drip system.do u have any
recomendations? I saw that boogie blue filter but im not sure if thats
gonna last long on a big drip system. thanx 4 any advice.

Some places have Home Owners Associations that vote to restrict anything
but decorative landscaping. There may be limits in other communitites too.
Bummer but not to give up! find your spot. a container with mixed plants
add a couple flowers to make nice?

mid-may to mid-sep isn’t far off from where i grew up in long island. we’d
always wind up planting after memorial day. that said I planted my first
winter garden this year and was surprised at how freeze tolerant some
plants are. For the cool-happy but freeze intolerant plants like lettuce
you can try making a mini hoophouse with a floating row cover..cover. Great
for keeping pests out too. Use the indoor set up to get plants started and
an outdoor set up to finish them up except for dead winter
