HealthyAnswers.com Warns Readers of Genetically Modified Food Labels

The Natural Way To Keep You Informed

Delray Beach, FL (PRWEB) October 31, 2012

In a timely health alert HealthyAnswers.com informs readers of the GMO (genetically modified organsim) foods labeling efforts through groups like “Just Label It”, “Right To Know” and the “Non-GMO project”. This comes just ahead of California’s historic vote on Proposition 37, November 6 that could mandate labeling of GMO foods in California. If passed, the proposition, could set in motion the drive for GMO food labeling across the nation. Data from the Non-GMO project states that more than 90% of the American people are in favor of GMO foods labeling. However, even with 1,000,000 signatures on petitions, the bill to label GMO foods did not pass in Congress this past June.

HealthyAnswers.com cited reports from Scientific American [Rat Study Sparks Furor Over Genetically Modified Foods, September 2012], that found an association between GMO foods and poor health in rats. The first long-term study of its kind revealed the development of mammary tumors and liver and kidney damage in rats that ate Roundup-resistant GMO corn. Earlier research out of Great Britain’s Rowett Institute [GM Potatoes Damaged Rats, 1996] showed rats were unable to metabolize GM potatoes (and peas) properly and developed precancerous cell proliferation in their digestive tracts.

HealthyAnswers.com resident expert Mark Rosenberg, M.D. offered further warnings about GMO foods: “GMO’s are different from the foods humans evolved with. Human DNA may not work properly with them and could produce disease. There is insufficient long-term data to know what kind of health harm these foods could do to consumers.”
