Canadian Child Nutritionist K. Yarker Brings Renowned Parent Workshops to U.S.

Kristen Yarker, MSc, RD

Portland, OR (PRWEB) September 29, 2014

Kristen Yarker, MSc, RD recently announced that she will be bringing her popular baby and child nutrition events to the United States for the very first time. From October 1st to 4th, Yarker will be offering demonstrations and workshops for the parents of children ages 4 months to 5 years, staged in the cities of Vancouver, WA, Hillsboro, OR and Portland, OR.

Yarker shared, “During my visit this summer I could tell that parents in the area not only desired for their kids to experience excellent health and therefore good nutrition, but moreover wanted them to share in their love of food. That’s when I realized that these northwestern cities provided the perfect setting for the debut of my workshops in the U.S.!”

A child-feeding expert and registered dietitian, Yarker has been hosting workshops for parents in British Columbia, Canada since 2008. She has helped hundreds of parents navigate the transition from breastfeeding or formula to solid foods, and has assisted them in supporting their children to minimize picky eating and try new foods on their own, instilling an enduring love for food. Recognizing that parents within the U.S. similarly struggle with persuading their picky eaters to try healthy foods, she has decided to bring her knowledge and expertise to American families.

Yarker will be hosting two, complimentary demonstrations at Whole Foods Markets located in Vancouver (Mill Plain location) and Hillsboro (Tanasbourne location), which include:

“Iron-Rich Foods for Your Baby”: Iron-rich foods are important for babies for their growth and development, especially brain development. Yarker will be preparing pureed and finger foods at the event, with both vegetarian and meat options for either preference. In addition to providing iron-rich food ideas for babies, Yarker will share secrets on how to increase their absorption of iron from food.
“One Meal for the Whole Family”: Shows parents one of Yarker’s most successful techniques for creating one meal that every member of the family will enjoy – even picky eaters. Her strategy not only allows parents to enjoy flavorful and even spicy foods, but also encourages picky eaters to try new foods on their own- without being sneaky or forceful. At the event, parents will get to taste three delicious, 30-minute dishes, and even bring home the recipes.

In addition, Yarker will be hosting her “Baby Food 101: Introducing Solids” workshop at the Milagros Baby Boutique in Portland on the afternoon of Saturday, October 4th. In this 2 hour workshop parents will learn at what age they should begin offering their baby solid foods and identify the best starter foods to introduce. Yarker will also be discussing appropriate food textures for babies, demonstrate ways to minimize the risk of their baby choking, and share the latest evidence regarding food allergy prevention. Yarker comments, “Parents will leave this workshop confident in how to introduce their baby to solid foods to safely meet their rapidly changing nutritional needs.”

Registration for the event is required and can be completed through the website. See the full listing of Kristen’s appearances with links to register at KristenYarker.com/workshops.
