SlenderGuideMD presents ways to improve your fatigue.

Primary Causes and Treatments for Fatigue

Being overly tired or wearied, lacking the ability to concentrate, and feeling physically weak during the day can all be symptoms of fatigue. Discovering the causes, possible treatments, and ways to prevent exhaustion may assist in lessening your symptoms and could help you return to feeling more energetic and vigorous.

What you do or don’t eat can contribute to feeling tired, cranky, and sleepy during the day, but loading up on coffee or eating sugary treats in an attempt to help you perk up can actually make you feel more tired. Caffeine and sweets can cause blood sugar levels to become erratic and unstable, possibly leading to headaches, blurred vision, and can even making you hungrier than you were before that sweet snack. Eating a healthy, balanced diet consisting of fruits, vegetables, and protein like lean meats or fish can help keep your blood sugar at an even level and make you less likely to feel tired.

Obviously if you are feeling sleepy throughout the day, you need to analyze how much sleep you are getting at nighttime. In preparation for restful sleep, you should avoid drinking caffeinated and alcoholic beverages a few hours before bedtime, turn off the TV and other screens like computers and phones, and keep your room dark, cool, and quiet. A white noise machine can help block out intrusive noises from neighbors or street traffic, and the sounds can help your mind to relax in preparation for sleep. The right amount of slumber differs for each person, so keep track of how much sleep you are getting each night in order to help figure out how much more you might need.

Getting an appropriate amount of exercise can help reduce feelings of exhaustion and lethargy. It may seem like exercising would make you more tired, but evidence shows that the contrary is true. Exercising for more than a half hour at least four days a week can actually increase your energy levels during the day, and even make you more likely to fall asleep easier at nighttime.

Carrying extra weight can also be a big factor in feeling fatigued. Eating healthy, getting enough sleep at night, and making sure to exercise can all help contribute to a healthy body mass. This healthy physical state can decrease your chances of feeling tired and weak on a regular basis.

If you are still feeling exhausted and sleepy despite changes in your diet, exercise routine, and nighttime habits, you may have a sleep disorder or other issues such as depression, diabetes, or thyroid problems. Scheduling an appointment to see a doctor may be needed in order to further investigate your exhaustion issues.
