Question by Merp: Help with eating healthy?
I’m trying to eat healthier, but i just don’t seem to have any will power!!
I’ll be pretty good for like a week but then the weekend will come and there will be something, chips or ice cream and I’ll just cave in!! I can’t find the will power to stay away and then I’ll just binge.
Any suggestions?? THanks!!

Convince yourself that eating unhealthy will prevent you from becoming the person you want to be, because after all, discipline is choosing who we want to be over what we want now.
It will be difficult to resist your desires at first but after a while, and once you start to see progress (looking and feeling better) it will be easier and easier to resist.

How much weight are you tarring to lose? It’s fine to indulge once in a while, but do it carefully and moderately. You can find alternative to the foods that tempt you so much. Just be careful that this doesn’t lead you down the binge road.

Remember you are investing in your health, try to make healthy living a priority, and healthy eating will become a part of that mindset, and it may be easier when you aren’t so much focused on just the eating part of living a healthy lifestyle. To keep from bingeing, try setting your mind on an image and idea of who you will be if you become a healthy eater. Don’t punish yourself for making mistakes, but just keep trying to do better. Find every way you can to feel good about who you are, rather than getting frustrated about not having will power. You have already begun to realize you want or need to stay away from unhealthy foods, and that is great! Do you meditate? Meditation is a great way to learn to keep things calm and in perspective. Also, exercise is an important aspect of healthy living, and if you develop an enjoyable exercise program, it really helps to keep you on track. And know that each time you make the right choice, you will feel better and better about yourself, and that gets the ball rolling toward consistently eating better foods.
There are also healthier snacks you can use to substitute for those that are of lesser nutritional value. If you have to have something like chips, at least eat the organic types, or if it’s ice cream, try the brands that don’t have chemicals and additives. If you knew what some of those foods are made of, you probably wouldn’t choose to eat them. Knowledge is power. Think of healthy eating as part of owning that power!
