Harris Poll finds 80% of Women and 70% of Men Experience Food Guilt – Food Mood Girl Shares How to Turn Guilt into Love in Her New Book, Food Guilt No More

Pittsburgh, PA (PRWEB) May 21, 2015

According to a Harris Poll, nearly 8 out of 10 women and 7 out of 10 men in the United States suffer from food guilt. These are some of the results of The Harris Poll of 2,058 U.S. adults surveyed online from January 26-28, 2015 by Harris Interactive. (Full findings and data tables available as attachment)

In Lindsey Smith’s new book Food Guilt No More, she takes readers on a journey of her own food guilt issues and in turn, teaches them how to battle this emotional struggle.

“I speak from firsthand experience,” Smith says. “Food guilt paralyzed me for years. Whether I ate kale or cookies, broccoli or brownies, I agonized over meals as well as treats. Eventually, I recognized food guilt’s sneaky symptoms and built my program to tame cravings, find foods that energize and sustain, and break the guilt and emotional eating cycle.”

In Food Guilt No More, Smith walks readers through the program that worked for her while providing mood-boosting and guilt-free recipes and the space for the reader to reflect on how they feel about food. She states in one of the first chapters that a major goal to overcoming food guilt is to rewrite your food story with a positive tone. This book-meets-journal compilation is the perfect start to recognizing that food struggles are emotional.

“We get in trouble and begin a cycle of food guilt when we try to satisfy cravings of the mind and spirit with food. The problem isn’t simply that we choose ‘bad’ foods, it’s that we choose food as our nutrient of choice, no matter what the need.”

In addition to recipes and advice on how to love food again, Smith walks her readers through the right choices for the most common cravings, such as sugar and caffeine, and how there are natural ways to curb these cravings.

Food Guilt No More is not only a self-help book, a cookbook and an insight into Smith’s life, but it also teaches the benefits of, and which steps to take to get into, a healthy lifestyle.
