1st Annual Ballard Earth Day Street Party

Sunergy Systems Inc, a solar installation company, is celebrating their 10-year anniversary by creating the 1st Annual Ballard Earth Day Street Party, a sustainably-themed street party to benefit long-time partner Sustainable Ballard. Sunergy Systems is an employee-owned company located in Ballard specializing in the design and installation of solar energy. In conjuncture with Giddy Up Burgers & Greens, and New Roots Organics, these three sustainably-minded neighbors all banded together to throw a sustainable street fair to celebrate Earth Day with proceeds donated to Sustainable Ballard. Since Sunergy Systems opened their doors in 2005, solar in Washington has grown from a sleepy industry of about 100 total net-metered solar systems to the mainstream where in just for the year of 2014 alone 1,682 systems were installed. By the inception of the State’s nation leading incentive program in 2005, the State is quickly approaching 8,000 installed systems, this is an 800% increase over 2005. According to The Solar Foundation’s “2014 State Solar Jobs Report”, Washington has 128 solar related businesses, employing over 2,400 people, and ranking Washington at 17th nationwide.
